HANJO BERESSEM

Hanjo Berressem teaches “American Literature and Culture” at the University of Cologne. He has published monographs on Thomas Pynchon (Pynchon’s Poetics: Interfacing Theory and Text) and on Witold Gombrowicz (Lines of Desire: Reading Gombrowicz’s Fiction with Lacan). He has co-edited a number of books on “Feminism and Cultural Studies,” “Chaos Theory and the Human Sciences,” “Pynchon and Germany”, “Deleuze and History” and on “The Hollow Earth.” He has written numerous articles on poststructuralist theory, contemporary American fiction, media studies, the interfaces of art and science, as well as on ‘nature writing’ and ecology. His most recent monograph is on the mathematical notion of ‘eigenvalue’ and its presence in art and literature (Eigenvalue: On the Gradual Contraction of Media in Movement | Contemplating Media in Art Eigenvalue). Recently, he has completed two ‘complementary’ monographs, one on the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze (Luminous Philosophy), the other on the work of Félix Guattari (Schizo-Ecology).
