RICHARD NIMIJEAN
Richard Nimijean is a professor at School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, with cross-appointment to the Department of Political Science Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
Educated in Political Science and Public Policy, Richard Nimijean has researched, written, and taught in the areas of Canadian Studies, Canadian politics and public policy, regional innovation systems, and science and technology policy. His current research interests focus on the branding of Canada, the relationship between Canada’s role as a global actor and the Canadian identity, and the politics of the brand state.
Richard is very active in the international Canadian Studies community, participating in activities sponsored by the International Council of Canadian Studies, the Association for Canadian Studies in United States, the British Association of Canadian Studies, and the Mexican Association of Canadian Studies as well as by higher education institutions in Ireland, Italy, Chile and Argentina. Most recently (April 2017) he gave a series of presentations at the Alexandra Ioan Cuza University of Iași (Romania) within the Erasmus+ programme. From 2008-2015 he was the editor of the Southern Journal of Canadian Studies; since 2015 he has been a co-editor of the International Journal of Canadian Studies.
