Elena Tricarico

Since as a student, she deals with the biological invasions problem, particularly in fresh waters, through different perspectives, from behavioural ecology to management aspects, leading her to travel around Europe, USA and Africa, and to establish many fruitful collaborations.

She participated to 15 national and 10 European projects (as DAISIE, IMPASSE) mainly on alien species, investigating also the predictive aspects of this problem (e.g. risk assessment), especially in relation to the climate change. Currently, she is involved in the COST Action TD1209 (Alien Challenge), and is invited researcher at Université de Poitiers (France).

For the European Commission, she was co-responsible for the revision of the alien freshwater species of the EASIN catalogue. She has produced 57 papers in peer-review journals, mostly on alien species, 6 book chapters and 1 book is in press. She has supervised (and is supervising) a total of 2 PhD students, 10 undergraduate and 3 Master students. She is teaching assistant for several courses at UNIFI.
