DVM Ali Halajian, Ph.D (November 2017)

Dr. Ali Halajian took his Veterinary (DVM) degree and Veterinary Parasitology degree (Ph.D.) in Iran. He did research activities in Bulgaria and Italy. In 2011, he obtained postdoctoral position at University of Limpopo. He is currently working at Department of Biodiversity, University of Limpopo, South Africa as Senior Researcher.

University of Limpopo is located in Limpopo Province, the most northern province in South Africa. Department of Biodiversity is part of School of Molecular and Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Agriculture https://www.ul.ac.za/index.php?Entity=Biodiversity

 

Three days – three activities:

  • Lecture: Wildlife in South Africa – roadkills and parasites

Importance of roadkill and diversity of parasites in South Africa (results of different projects done during 2012 – 2017)

 

  • Lecture: Field work in South Africa (opportunities, volunteering, internship)

Experiences of 5 years of field works in different African countries. Presentation of opportunities to get experience of working in Africa.

 

  • Lecture: Freshwater fish parasites in South Africa

Methods of catching fish and checking them for parasites and challenges of working in Africa.
